Final Runner Instructions
Early Packet Pickup:
Thursday, June 13, 4-7pm at Charm City Run, 467 W. Patrick St, Frederick.
Picking up your packet on Thursday will save you time on race day!
Race Day Reminders:
IMPORTANT: The race is at a new location this year. The start/finish of the race takes place in front of the Walkersville Fire Hall at 79 W Frederick St, Walkersville, MD 21793. The venue is new this year, so that we could continue to include a super-fun beer garden after-party. It's a wonderful facility and gives us lots of room for our participants and expo. We have a brand-new USATF-certified race course that we are sure you will enjoy!
Parking: Parking Attendants will be onsite to assist. West Frederick Street will be closed at the start/finish line at 6:30pm to allow the timing company to set up. If arriving after 6:30, you will need to approach the race venue from the south. See the venue map for the location of runner parking.
Race Day Packet Pickup begins at 5:30PM inside the Walkersville Fire Hall Bingo Building on the Carnival Grounds. Look up your name on the race registration site here to get your bib number and proceed to the correct line to pickup your bib and race shirt.
Bag check is not necessary since there is plenty of parking close on premises at the Fire Hall.
Timing Chip: The race is timed using the chip on the back of your bib. Do not remove, fold, or mutilate the chip and wear the bib on the front of your shirt. Overall awards are based on gun time. Age group awards and runner rankings are based on net time.
At the start, please line up according to your expected pace. Line up at the front if you're expecting a 6-7 min/mile pace, line up at the back if you plan to run at a slower pace, and arrange yourselves in between as appropriate.
Enjoy the race and your fellow runners, and stay alert on the race course. For your safety and the safety of those around you, headphones are discouraged and dogs, bicycles, skates, and strollers (except for Athletes Serving Athletes) are not allowed.
Bib Transfers are not permitted. Please do not give your bib to someone else if you are unable to use it. Tabulating results with inaccurate identities just doesn't work well for anyone. (See FSRC Race Bib Transfer Policy)
Weather Policy - We love the summer season, but occasionally the weather can be uncooperative. At the discretion of the Race Director and Walkersville Town officials, the race may be postponed, changed to an untimed Fun Run, or canceled. Sorry, no refunds. (See FSRC Weather Policy)
Hydration: There will be water stops near mile 1.5, 2.5 and 4. It’s going to be warm - stay hydrated and adjust your effort if you’re not acclimated to running in the heat.
Random Prizes: This year we'll be doing the random prize drawing while you're out on the course. Be sure to check for your bib number at the random prize table inside the Registration Pavilion when you finish!
The After Party with live music is brought to you by Frederick Let There Be Rock School and Flying Dog. The party will run from 8:00 pm to 10:30PM. Your race registration includes one beer. Additional beer tickets will be sold to runners and non-runners. EVERYONE (no exceptions) will be asked for ID in order to obtain a bracelet that will be checked at the beer tent. No one will be given a beer without a bracelet. PLEASE DON'T FORGET YOUR ID.
There will be many other great treats to enjoy as well. Grab some a cold water and fruit from Wegmans, Brusters Italian Ice, as well as Pizza from Pizza Hut and Starvin Marvin’s Pizza, Jambalaya and other goodies from Oscar's Ale House, ICED coffee from Dublin Roasters, or Gatorade and Fruit bars brought to you by FoodPro. Food is free for runners and volunteers only. Food tickets may be purchased by spectators to allow access to the food building.
